Our 2002 Regal locks the doors when taken out of Park. In the manual it says to depress the brake with the key in run and the power lock switch held locked, and then move the shifter from park to anything and back again. This is supposed to go from one of 4 programmed autolocks to the next. It isn't working right, and now we are worse off then before, as it doesn't unlock when put back into Park.
Anyone else out there that has had this problem, or knows how to fix it?

just read the owners manual and follow the direction carfully. It can be a little confusingbut that should get you into the mode that you want. Another thing you could try is take it to a dealer and see if they will help you out with it. I would hope that they would do it for free on the service drive but I guess you never know what they might try to charge you. Maybe even a salesman would be willing to help out? They should know how to do it and should have showed you when you bought the car if you bought it new.

 

Thanks for the reply. We finally got it, but it took several times. I knew I was getting somewhere when they would change. Apparently the first time you do the procedure, it stays the same, and when yo do it again quickly enough, it changes to the next program.
