My 2001 Buick Regal has recently started having a buzzing sound. It sounds like a small airplane flying in the distance or like when you put cards on your spokes as a kid. It's really strange and isn't there at all when you're idling.

It sounds like something that spins rubs on something and gets louder and louder the faster you go and then when you break there's a sound like "winding down." Sort of sounds like you're driving a loud dirt bike.

If you roll down the window and stick your head out, you don't hear it outside the car.

Would really appreciate the help if anyone has experience with this or any ideas. We're in the dark here.

Thanks a lot!!!

I also have a 2001 Buick Regal and have just recently been experiencing the same as you have described. Were you ever able to solve the problem?

We never heard from anyone and we're still unable to find out what it is. We can't afford to take it into the shop so we've just put up with the noise.

Keep us posted if anyone learns what it is. Thanks.

Hi There,

That you have to ask a Dutchman.... but yes, I found the most forward gasketin my exhaust lineblown, just before the manifold. Replacement of the gasket was all it took!

Thank you so much for the reply! I'll give it a try. Any idea on a part #? Is this the gasket between the manifold and downpipe? I've found a link, but I'm not sure which one it is? Let me know if you have any more info.

Hi Paul

yes in my car it was gasket 31391 (from your drawing)

Hope you can solve the matter as easily as I did, although it took me nearly three months to find the actual reason.

Keep on cruising,

Wouter
