Hello all. I need gas tank straps for a 1996 Roadmaster Wagon. The ones listed by almost all aftermarket sources are too big by 3 or 4 inches. The part # most commonly seen for this application is ST186. After some research I found that there was a shorter set (for a smaller tank, I assume) and that these are not in production yet but are going to be some time in the future. The tank is plastic and I assume original. Can any body help? I need them ASAP as the car is off the road until fixed. Thanks.

 

Sometimes you can get parts for a Buick from a Chev dealer. Used to do that when Pontiac was being made. GM used the same parts for other models. Dealership parts departments can sometimes tell you what other GM models used those size straps. Try around , aftermarket doesn't always have many special parts.
Don't be afraid to try a Cadillac dealer , they had large gas tanks also.

 

If you still need the straps, I believe Spectra now makes them for the wagons. My friend Ray sent a set to the manufacturer and they started producing them.
