I'm looking for a cheap reliable used car. I've been into Hondas forever but my ex wifes parents had a '99 Buick and I sort of liked it. It seemed very reliable, quiet, got decent mileage, etc. I like their understated looks and how nobody really modifies them (afaik) I search my local craigslist and can find many clean used 00-05 LeSabres for $2500-3000, which I think is a great deal. Is there anything I should check before buying? How much mileage is too high for these cars? Are these cars infamous for having certain expensive problems, etc I just want a nice daily driver for a nice price. Thanks in advance

 

If you lined up 5 of the same year and model , you would get 5 different results.
A lot depends on ;
How they were driven
Where they were driven
How well they were maintained and by who
High city miles
High highway miles
Garage kept
Stayed outside all the time
Condition underneath etc. So, as you can see there are a lot of things you can look for, and if possible ,maintenance history.
Some can look like a dream and be a real nightmare with hidden problems
Some can look so-so and not be a bad buy. . Which ever you consider, have your own maintenance tech check it out before purchase if possible.
