I made a video to show what is happening

this is not some stupid ad or anything just a 2 min video showing what is the issue


i think someone tried to break my ignition and steal my car


Now, when I insert key and turn to ON position, I get none of the dash lights as normal


If I apply slight pressure on the key, then I get dash lights


If I crank the key all the way, my car starts but then turns off when i release.

if i crank the key, and start the car and then HOLD the key slightly forward the car runs


I do not think this is a security system issue

I think the problem could be fixed with new ignition switch?

 

You are most likely correct.
The thing to do is verify power is getting out of the switch itself and that can be easily verified with a simple test light.

The sw assy is usually located under the dash attached to the lower part of the steering column..
