My recent hand-me-down 92 LeSabre''s air conditioning has been out of
commission for about five years. I suspect that doing anything about it is
going to be uneconomical, but I''d like to get some idea of the potential costs
associated with getting it working again. When the air conditioning initially
failed to work, it had not been used for well over a year. I suspect the issue
is that the refrigerant has evacuated from the system as a result of not being
used and rubber components drying out. I''m just guessing because I don''t
really understand which components are prone to failure. Once evacuated,
tested, and repaired is a retrofit necessary to recharge with R134a?

 

at minimum you would need to change the accumulator. some will call it the filter/dryer. w/e, its the same thing.





and if you want r134a, then yes, a retrofit is needed. 92 will have r12 fittings from the factory.
