My bf's mother's car has a problem with the security light. Some times it comes on for no apparent reason and then she has to wait 3 minutes for the light to go off, before the car will start. It seems to be a sporatic problem that is happening more and more.

 

Key dirty? Ignition switch dirty?

Does the car run and quit in the driveway?

or

Usualy a security tamper switch at a door or trunk is bad or a bad ground..

Also is she using the remote key unlock alot.. try using a key once in a while to open a door.. I think it resets stuff ..

its prob got a remote start

 

when a remote starter is installed(aftermarket), they have to by-pass the vats(vehicle anti-theft system). which causes the light to come on.

 

I dont think it would be intermittent.. with the remote start always installed.

Just a thought.
