1995 LeSabre Shifting problem
Hi all.
I have a very nice 1995 LeSabre Custom, Garnett with red interior. It has given many miles of good service.
A few months ago it started to be hard to get it out of park (physically difficult) and into the other positions (RNODD21). Once it was out of park it performed OK. Fluid level OK.
A few days ago it started to simply not engage in any position without "holding my mouth right". Once out of park and into the other positions, again it does OK. Smooth shifting. Runs well.
At noon today I stopped it in neutral. Turned off the ignition. Came back and started it and it went smoothly into the other positions. When I put the lever in park, it once again was a struggle to get it to go out of park (not a physical pull, just a lot of rowing on the column to get it to engage).
This is a column mount shift.
Any thoughts or suggestions on what I may need to do to fix the problem. Again, it is full of fluid and shifts up and down very smoothly.
Thanks,
Neal Lewis
