2005 CXL rear camber issue
Hi all,
The passenger side rear tire has a severe negative camber. I don't have the means to accurately measure it, but I'm guessing about 3-5 degrees. I'm finding conflicting information about how to fix this. I just had to put new tires on the car and the mechanic told me there's no adjustment and tried to sell me a rear wheel alignment replacing a bunch of stuff. I didn't expect to find an adjustment, but I do think there must be worn shims, bearings, or suspension to look at. Any thoughts are appreciated. |
Are you aware of the possibility something was damaged back there like maybe backing into something or hitting a severe pothole?
I would agree to have a good alignment shop check your vehicle and provide you with an estimate of what is wrong and the cost to correct it. If not corrected it will ruin a perfectly good tire quickly. |
Definitely a possibility that something could be damaged. Wisconsin roads are pretty rough in spring when the thaw started heaving roads and new potholes make appearances. This is work I intend to do myself. I haven't done it on this particular vehicle, but have on others. I'm mainly curious about what to look for and what can or cannot be done.
