It may have trouble reading the key.. check for spark missing. Many things possible. If the spark is missing the computer may not be allowing to start. Then its check key security system. I believe it reads the key through Osmosis.. sortof. Chip in key. Like a microchip in a pet.

Im betting on the key.. too. Good place to start. You look for codes at a parts place. A shop will charge you.
I wonder if the security light lights up on that model for a VATS error.

The key has a resistor read by the VATS system. Theres about 15 different resistor values you might have. The VATS system puts a signal to the PCM to allow a start. Sometimes Ive heard in forums engines will start and quit in 10 seconds, and others die on the road for this problem.

Good luck.

On some cars you prime the system by sturning the key to the on position then wait a second then try starting the motor, I do not know if you have this with your case though.
