Can someone please give me an idea of this car's worth? My uncle is going to sell the car and I told him I would try to get him a range of values for a car like this. The car has 35,000 miles and my uncle is the second of two owners. It is all original, paint, interior, engine, transmission. I was thinking of taking it to the Syracuse Nationals in July to see if there was any interest but I'm not sure how to present the car. Should I rub out the paint or leave the patina? Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

 

If I had a car like that, and did not know the value, I would consider putting it up in a major auction, like Mecum or similar. You would get the exposure it deserves, and the clientele would be of the caliber to get you the most for your car. The issue you will have with value is that it is a 4 door. 4 doors tend to be substantially less valuable than 2 door cars.

Thank you for the info. He asked me if I wanted the car for $6500 which I thought was too low and I wanted to get him an idea as to what a reasonable price would be for the car.

 

I am no car appraiser, but from what I have seen on Mecom, $6500 would be a reasonable value, maybe on the high end. If you can watch some of the Mecom, or Barret Jackson auctions, and others like them, you can get some comparables, but do not compare it with 2 door cars.

 

Something to consider, many movie producers are always on the lookout for vehicles to fit into a movie they may be contemplating and even a 4 door is sought !
I can recall where one such company paid a hefty price for an old van that was in pretty sad shape. It just needed to run and in the final shots it was blown up as part of the film
Your Buick has a much better future considering it's condition, you never know !
