HiI am new to the board. Does anybody have any stories on the gas mileage on the 02 Rendezvous?





Just bought an 02 CXL fully loaded and I am only getting 10 -14 mpg in the city. Have not taken it out on the highway yet to see what that gets. I am a little dissapointed in the city mpg.





anyone else have this issue?

Have you tried to use an Higher Octane gaz ? I own a Regal with 3.8 and
when i tank using regular gaz that cut in half the gas mileage.

In my case it's specified in my manual that the car need a 90 octane or more gas.

Ihave same problem with my ´96 Riviera. Site says:


mpg (c)18= 13,1l/100km


mpg (h)27= 8,7l/100km


but reality is:


mpg(city) ~13,067...= ~18l/100km


hwy - 8,5-9,5l/100km


As you see, highway is not aproblem. But I think city milage is far away from normal. It is strange because everything works normalyandengine seems to bevery good condition. Even engine diganostic resultswere perfect. I have already replaced airfilter (to k&n), gaz filter, beltsand fluids (engine;transmission;supercharger). Still wondering what´s the problem...

I have a 2002 cx rendezvous and we get in between 20 to 25 mpg so it seems strange you only get that. only have 35000 on the odometer am having trouble with my pass key system though

I have a 2002 Buick Fully Loadedand get about 20-22 driving back and forth to work. Not all city driving but some of it is. I am fairly happy with my mileage but of course with the price of gas still going up would be nicer to get better. BUt I do love my Rendezvous for winter so guess I won't complain. Am having problems with fueling and then not starting. Hope that doesn't happen to you...

We have a new '06 Rendezvous, and the mileage stinks! This new vehicle
has the DOHC 3.5 that was introduced in the Olds Intrigue and Aurora in
2000, and it is a lousy replacement for the venerable 3800. IMHO, this
is the engine that brought Olds to its knees!



Our last Pontiac GP (2003) had the 3800 and would consistently deliver
an honest 24-25 MPG average, and easily exceed 28+ MPG on the highway.
We needed a larger vehicle for hauling stuff, and chose the Rendezvous
because of its capacity and non-van like conventional doors. (I hate
sliding doors) Unfortunately, we did not have an engine choice, and was
told by the salesperson the early MPG problems of the 3.5 was fixed. He
lied!



I had a 2000 Intrigue with this engine (3.5 DOHC) and traded it on on
the Pontiac. My average mileage (Intrigue) went from 18.5 to over 24 in
the first month of ownership of the 2003 Pontiac!



Just for comparison, our Seville SLS averages over 21MPG year around
with eight cylinders and 275 HP! Better mileage is possible with a
better engine! The 3.5 DOHC sucks!

I just got a 98 regal Gs and i get about 22 average, a little more city than highway. On the highway it shows me 29 if i am cruisin at around 65 mph. It's not too bad with the supercharger (I try not to use it too much though)

Did you reset the gas mileage indicator when you bought it? You might be seeing the residual effect of someone test driving it, stomping on it, see how fast this baby will get on the highway, kind of thing.


I suggest you reset your system. I typically see 20 in the city and 24-26 on the highway, couple less when the air conditioning is running.


If resetting doesn't work, probably need to clean the air filter and fuel filter.

I just got a 05 CX and have only filled the tank up once. The MPG says now 20.5 but we reset it upon fillup to see what happened. I guess we will know when we know.
