2012 Buick Regal GS Performance Testing

What are your guys opinions of this thing? I can't wait to drive it.

I'm kinda torn on it. I think it looks real nice and sporty, and the numbers seem nice power wise, but I drove a Regal with the 2.4(?) auto back in November, and it was really unsatisfying. It seemed really gutless.. I sure hope the the more powerful turbo and 6 speed really wake this car up.

I agree that the base model is under powered. I just borrowed the 2.0l turbo and I still feel that was still lacking a little. I have heard that this engine with the manual is the only way to go.

I think the manual will be what really makes this car. If the base came with a manual, it would probably be a little better. I remember the one I drove to be real lacking in city cruising speeds. I'd really like to see a GS around here. Might have to take it for a test drive

I can't wait to see what a Tuner can do with the GS. I love the front Fascia and hope that they can get a reliable 5Sec 0-60 in it.

When we say it's slow, How slow? I haven't driven one yet but may in the near future as a rental. Already owning a factory turbocharged family car, that doesn't always equate as night and day over the N/A model. A lot of car companies are slapping a underpowered turbo on with a lack luster somewhat safe but rich tune and pretending it's a fast and reliable car.

That's usually the case, I got my Cruze for that same reason of the auto.

Funny how I typed a statement about underpowered turbos for Fuel Efficency and then purchased one. Reliability is getting better over the years for my car and the factory tune is rich enough that a aftermarket tune w/o a single bolt on adds almost 50 HP. Still haven't driven the Regal yet, they aren't the popular rental car here for some odd reason. I may try and reserve one in the near future in another area to get an idea of what the car is like.
