Hello all,

My name is Mario, I personally do not own a buick, however I have much respect for many of their cars, i.e...Regal GS, Grand National, etc...

My boss does own a Regal GS and has a hole in his radiator, his belts need replaced, and his thermostat is sticking. I have a decent amount of knowledge on automotive mechanics, however, I have never worked on this car.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips or anything I should watch out for when replacing the belts and radiator.

Thanks in advance,

Mario

I have had several Park Avenues and Rivieras, but never a Regal. However, I don't think there's anything particularly difficult about your project. Still, if you're working on your boss' car, you really don't want to screw it up, or have it out of commission for long.

If it is a FWD, the transverse engine puts the belts on the side, and sometimes that can become difficult. For example, on my Park Avenue Ultra, you have to disconnect the motor mount and jack up the engine! But, I don't think that will be the case on a Regal(however, now that I think about it, if the car is supercharged, maybe it is).

I always like to have a shop manual or at least a Haynes or Chilton manual. Often these are available at libraries. If there's anything unusual, they'll save you a lot of time and maybe money.

Hopefully, somebody with experience on that vehicle will chime in.

Thanks for your input, I don't think I will have that much trouble, but the supercharger may present a slight challenge.

Anyone else?
