I own a 1995 Buick Regal Custom. It is the 3.1L. I have a slow oil leak and it does not burn any oil. It has approx. 116,000 miles on it. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what type of oil to use. ex. high mileage, synthetic, blend, etc.

Personally, I don't see much success with the additives designed to stop oil leaks, however they are probably a better option than high mileage oils (which claim to do the same thing). They might be worth a try.

Synthetics have a reputation of being more prone to leak and, of course, you'd be losing a more expensive product. I assume synthetic blends would be similar.

Consider going up a step in viscosity (eg.: 10W40), depending on the climate you're in. And just get the cheapest SL(SM if SL not available)rated oil you can find. If its something easy, like valve cover gaskets, you'd probably be better off to just fix it. Edited by: MrBSS
