I have a 1996 Regal 2 door Gran Sport. Just coming back from a 300 mile trip (usually driving about 120 kmh, or 75 mph) I did 29 mpg. Quite pleased.

I think you will like the SC engine. You can get very good economy if you drive nice, and still have a car that is very fast when you want it to be.
One small downside is that you are supposed to use 91 octane fuel. However, I don't believe you will do any damage using regular because the engine computer will retard the timing at incipient knock. Particularly during winter, I often use regular and have seen no problems.
PS: Keep in mind that the Park Avenue is a larger car, and even with the same engine, is not likely to achieve the same mileage.
i agree with you totally about the ultra being great sleepers, and still be capable of good mpg.
but on the regular gas, thats just wrong. you should ALWAYS run premium on the L67s. with the L27s and the L36s, regular is fine and premium is just unnecessary.
and yes, the pcm will detect kock, and retatd the timing, but it cant do that untill AFTER the knock occurs. thats badEdited by: samueljackson
