To All,

The stereo in my dad's 2002 Regal died a few months back. It's a CD/cassette unit, and nothing is working, not even the radio. There is still power to the unit, as the clock is still on.

Does anyone have any pointers on:
1) Where I can find/buy a replacement unit (I've searched the web, and haven't found much luck)?
2) Instructions on how to replace the unit (assuming I can find one)?

Thanks.

I am not real familiar with your particular car, but usually these are available on eBay from recycling centers (junk yards) or electronics shops. I have purchased two this way with good results. Just be sure that the replacement is exactly the one that GM put in originally. Some options and other models and years may also work, but you take a chance that way. Also, many of these have a theft lock feature (is it possible that yours was disconnected from the battery and therefore is locked?) for which you might need a three digit combination, or a VIN.

Of course, you can also go aftermarket, but because the manufacturer has integrated the receivers that's not always easy. And it'll be hard to find one that matches your dash well.

that was my first thought. i would suggest looking at the manual for instructions on how to unlock, and i believe they put the code in the manual as well.
