Buick rainier 2005

So question.. My rainier is a 2005.. engine blew, got a used one from florida and they ended up sending me an 04 engine.. everything looks the same until of course I got it in the truck and really got to looking at it.. The knock sensors are different.. Is this engine workable in my 05 and will it pass smog? And if it is workable, how do I go about making that happen? Its the only vehicle I have.. I am very poor and won't be able to get another vehicle anytime soon.. I have to make this work or see myself walking for a long time..

Hi Travis,,
Because the manufacturers change specifications from year to year and even mid year it is difficult to provide a worthwhile answer.

How about we start with the necessary info;
1. Engine size, and miles on your vehicle
2 .Inspection requirements where you reside,
3. place where you obtained the engine,
4. Exactly what went wrong with original engine and estimated cost to repair if it was considered

Swapping engines these days is a lot more complicated than merely removing and installing a pile of iron. Electronics get into the picture and specs can differ from year to year..
Can any of the parts from the replacement you purchased be used to repair the original engine, worth looking into since you are stuck with the purchase..?
