1968 Buick Sportwagon GS 400??
#1
Okay, so I bought this 1968 Buick Sportwagon. It has the original big block 400- weird I know. Has every option imaginable including power windows & bench seat, cruise, and a GS grill emblem that appears to be legitimate. Now, I just want confirmation that they did in fact build GS 400 Sportwagons or did someone throw that emblem on the grill. It looks original. Any info about this car will be helpful including production #s

I was heavily into muscle cars around that time because I was preparing to buy my new 1970 Firebird Formula 400 RA III (which I still own). Although I didn't spend much time looking at station wagons, I don't believe the factory made a GS sport wagon then. However, it was usually possible to buy individual options to be very close if not identical to the "top dog". I did that to my Firebird because I liked the looks better than the Trans Am.
I could very well be wrong, but my guess is that somebody needed a wagon, but wanted a Gran Sport. He optioned it as close as possible and then stuck an emblem on the grill. If it were a factory product, it would also have emblems on the back and, probably, the dash.Edited by: MrBSS
