The driver side door window will not go up or down. The other three windows work ok.How do I trouble shoot this? The switch seems to be ok. Edited by: torisemo

Good chance you need a new motor. They tend to go; and the driver's goes first, since it's used the most.


I think you'll have to take off the door panel to see if it's getting power. You could get a schematic and trace things, but it's probably not worth the trouble. I would have a rebuilt motor available to replace when you get in there.

The funny thing is that the next day, after sitting all night, the window worked fine. I went out to take the panel off and before doing so, tried it and it worked. It does go slower than the right side though, which will open and close about two inches ahead of the left side.

That's typical for a window motor that's dying. They like to fail permanently when you roll it down to pay a toll during a rainstorm!


PS:The other possibility is that the insulation has broken on the wires, usually where they flex at the door hinge. Edited by: MrBSS
