I don't know which it is here, but this is what can happen.
If the vehicle ran until it pulled all the possible crap in the tank into the pump assy filter screen, that could be restricted now. If the fuel filter did it's job and stopped a lot of possible junk/water from getting into the injectors, it could be restricted. If some water got past the filter , the injectors don't like that and will not pass the water and if it does the engine will not, can not, start and run. Depending on the year , engine we sometimes have to open the fuel lines and purge them . The fuel pump can be damaged if there was no fuel circulating to keep it cooled and prevent it from self destructing. As far as purging , if the fuel line near the engine is opened a little , every time you turn the key on, the in tank pump should run for 2-3 seconds and pump fuel up toward the engine.thereby pushing any air out of the line from the tank to the open connection. There is more here, that is why I recommend fuel filters be replaced at least once a year, preferably in the fall. Also a bottle of dry gas should be inserted maybe every other tank full in the winter to deal with getting rid of any moisture in the fuel system. I hope I answered your question and maybe my long winded explanation was only a reminder , let's hope so ! |
