My 90 Skylark custom, 2.5 liter, recently died~! I was idling in my driveway just fine, put it in gear and heard this shrill whine line a belt squealing. The squeal quit while I was driving up to the main road. When I stopped to make a turn the car stalled. It appears to have fire at the plugs. There is no fuel coming into the throttle body, at all, at all! I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay to no avail. The fuel pump fuse is ok. What is next? Could the timing belt have broken and I still get fire at the plug? Help~!!!</font>

take off the dist cap. crank the eng over and see if the rotor spins. if yes. then belt/chain is fine. if no then yeah needs to be replaced.

not positive but i think 2.5 has chain.
