29 Buick not starting
 

I recently acquired a 1929 Buick 4 door sedan. It will turn over but not start. the previous owner is deceased and the seller does not have any info on the vehicle. I was told it has been sitting for 4 years and has been started only on occasion. It is a 6 cylinder (original) motor. It has been converted to a 12 volt and has an electric fuel pump added. other that that it is original. Any ideas on where to start in order to get this gem running?

Could you provide a little more info as to if it has an oil filled ign coil or other. Some older vehicles had a set of vibrating contacts on a boxed coil.
This can be quite a challenge although we should be able to hopefully figure it out. Does it have a distributor with contact points in it?

It does not have an oil filled coil and yes, it does have a distributor and points

Does it have the typical circular coil with high tension tower in the center and positive (+) and negative (-) small terminals ?

If so, when you turn the key to the start position , battery power is applied to the positive terminal of the coil. Can you confirm this ?
If it has power to the coil, the contact points open and close to provide the ground to charge the coil and when the points open the coil should provide a spark at the high tension wire that comes from the coil and goes to the center of the dist . cap. If the contact points either don' open or are dirty , no ground is provided to the coil and no spark will be produced. Can you verify this much?
