2001 Buick Park Ave Cruise Accelerates
Recently Purchased a nice 2001 Park avenue with 85,000 mi in AZ and drove it to Michigan. The cruise control accelerates randomly for no known reason. Going along at 60-65 MPH and all of a sudden downshifts and accelerates until I can get my foot on the brake. I have seen other posts with similar effects but cant seem to find out what exactly is the root cause. A couple of the bulletins that were put out associated with the defect were 120901 and 030604056. I have spent hours on this and contacted many dealers to no avail. Does anyone have experience with this issue. I know it has happened a lot and there must be someone who remembers whitch part had to be reworked or, repaired. Thanxxxx,,, John

LoL, nobody has a clue, myself either. Sounds like a cruise control issue, some type of servo would be in use and it sounds like it's trying to maintain a speed control higher than 60 MPH? Have yet to even use my cruise control but wonder if yours has maybe a stuck button or partially activated unknowingly, control sequence?

Thge cruise in a 2001 Park is a mini computer and is probably going bad.
I also wonder what kind of forum this is not one person welcomed me and seems no one knows what a trouble tree is either. :D. Al |
Nobody welcomed me either Alley. Trouble Tree, I was an electronics tech (38 yrs. w/DoD) and never heard that term back to '62 even when I first enlisted Navy (retired Army these days). I did now thanks to you. Not like the Boss 302 Forum; have to provide your own entertainment here.
Was on the Buick LaCrosse Forum and the only one there, think it's gone now can't say...... |
