'04 Rainier noob
 

Hi all. I recently bought an '04 Rainier with 170k miles on it. It has a couple issues I want to address, but I plan on spending today checking out all the simple fixes (Bulbs, fuses, etc.) before I start posting threads asking questions. If there are any specific things I should look for, please let me know. One thing it's doing is what I've heard called an "ABS stop" (ABS kicks in at low speeds in dry conditions), and on prior vehicles, the fix was either a new controller ($ nope $) or to just pull the fuse and defeat the ABS. This has worked fine on two of my other GM vehicles, and I'm going to try it today, unless there's a reason not to on the Rainier. Looking forward to interacting with new friends here. Sounds as an out of place wheel sensor, maybe dislodged or missing even, If a wheel senses slipping that brake will ease off to prevent car going into skid as I understand it. Also could have the skid control feature and be activated by some out of the way rocker switch. No idea on an ‘04 car, that’s pretty old.

This is a well rounded forum with vast array of different cars- models. Lost myself most of the time.

Could be as simple as dirty sensors.

Chances are pretty good there is a faulty wheel speed sensor OR wheel bearing. Since it is affected by the ABS there should be a code in the computer designating just which wheel is involved.. Common problem.
