Lasaber power window motors, removal and replacement
I found a new motor with regulator attached for $78 at autowholesaleparts.com. after completing the removal and replacement of the motor I discovered that its really not that hard of a job. First of all I discovered the regulator was the guide rail that the window slides on, not a electrical component that I thought it was. Second, removing the door panel was not a nightmare, after I had done it once. Third , there are a few tricks that I Will share, just send me a e-mail.. Car dealers are ripping people off charging over $250, to do this job!!!!!

You are correct, this is not a difficult job. The worst part of it is the fact that the window regulator and/or motor fails at the most inopportune times (rainstorms, long way from home, etc.). I buy the cheapie $45 regulators on eBay and keep extras on hand. On a few occasions I've been able to cannibalize old ones and rebuild them using parts from another dead regulator (e.g. cable broken, but motor good can replace vice versa). Unfortunate that GM could not have recognized this problem before it got out of hand. Several neighbors had GM's of the same style/vintage, suffered the same window issues, and now refuse to buy GM.

My driver side window isn't working right. 97 Buick Lesabre.
Was wondering if you had any tips? My shop wants to charge me $300 to fix it. Only sometimes does the window work properly . Other times it starts to go down very slowly then stops as if it's stuck. Then I try to put it up and nothing happens except a clicking sound when I push the button to go up or down. I've found that if I restart the car sometimes that fixes it and the window will go up. Also it will go back up if I push it downward while pushing the button up. So I'm not sure if it's a stickiness issue or maybe the switch?

Many times the window channel gets full of dust and dirt and causes excessive drag on the window motor. A little silicone spray into the window channel many times gets rid of the problem.

Same problem
I'm having a problem with the driver side front power window on my 97 Lesabre as well. I cant tell if it's something sticking or if its wiring, or needing a new switch. I'm new to cars so any advice would be appreciated. I saw a video where a guy recommended spraying silicone in the windows but not sure if that will do anything. The shop wants to charge me $300 to fix it but they didn't ever see the problem.
