Buick shuts off when driving

Hi,

My car was shut off automatically when I drove in the road. Before that, the check engine light is on. What could be the problem? How much does it cost to repair?

Thx!

There are possibly 20 reasons a vehicle can quit running. Even if we could list many of them , you would get different estimates for the repairs depending on where you went.
Some questions you might provide the answers for are;
What model
Does it restart right away, if not, how long before it will , if it does
What symptoms did you notice before it quit
Did you just purchase gas recently
What is the present mileage
What has been done to the vehicle recently, maintenance wise
What were you doing when it quit, climbing a hill, level road , etc
How long was the vehicle running before the problem occurred
As you can see we need some more info
It's like going to the doctor and telling him/her I have pain , what's it going to cost to cure me?
