hello all! im new here and hope to learn a great deal about my lesabre and fixing it as well.

I have a problem with my 1990 buick lesabre custom, every morning when i start it up and go to shift between park and R or N to D or vis versa the engine cycles down real low and ultimatley almost dies. stepping on the gas only kills the engine faster. the car idles fine in P or N. This problem only seems to occur when the car is cold, so naturally i warm her up before driving. again the problem is only while shifting.

i took it to a mechanic and he told me there may be an intake air temp intermitant problem and a missing cam sensor magnet. I got the magnet but was told it is an extenisve job.

I really want to fix this car and have both the chilton and haynes guide but neither really gives me a good direction to get started in. anyone know how to get to the cam magnet? if so how to install?

any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!Edited by: tbreezy
