Hello All!

I was rudely awakened last night, the horn on my Lesabre went off all by itself, (the car had been off for 6 hours). I had to disconnect the - terminal on the battery to get it to stop. Has anyone had this happen to them? Question # 2 where can I get an electrical schematic?

I've isolated the problem to the combination air bag / horn pad in the steering wheel. I disconnected the battery and removed the air bag module. the dealer parts people say that the only parts available are the wire leads to the module. Has anyone successfully repaired the horn switch that is Incorporated into the air bag?

did you ever fix your horn problem? I drive a 94 Park Ave Ultra and have the same problem. I'll honk my horn and it stays on until I give it a good hit or two. Sometimes even the slightest grazing will set it off as well.

Need help with this old horn issue, no solutions were posted

UPDATE: I was able to shove the spring-pin into the hole it goes in, and tighten down the center cushion/airbag over it, to keep it in place, and the horn worked normally after doing that. It remains to be seen if the horn will again blow randomly though, because I didn't really do anything to it. I had read somewhere that the center unit has been known to cause the horn-blowing and I'm hoping that by doing what I did it changed the pressure on the button. Now that I think about it, I had had a battery-drain condition going on, which left my battery dead every 3-4 days, before I pulled that contact pin out; we'll see if the problem starts over again or not.

---------------------- My previous post is below, I just edited in the above info.

I have the same issue on my '97 LeSabre, the horn would blow randomly without anyone in the car. I found that if I smacked the steering wheel horn area hard (or maybe it was the outside rim of the wheel I forget which... the blowing horn after midnight was driving me nuts), it stopped it then, but would happen again day(s) later. So now I took the airbag module off the steering wheel, but I don't know what to do next. My car has the audio and other push button controls on the steering wheel center cushion, and they seem to still be working fine, but (I think) my problem is there's a little contact pin on a spring, attached to two small Red wires (with a black grounding clip bundled to it), that came out of the hole it was down inside, and now it won't stay down in the hole. The white plastic tube surrounding the contact pin has a small plastic pin (like on a car brake light bulb) sticking out near the top end and the bottom end, so it looks like a twist-to-lock-in-place type of pin, but I can't seem to get it to latch into the hole, and I've tried pushing it in and turning it both to left and to right. So I would like this to work properly, but I'll also settle for a quick fix that will allow the horn to pass inspection in < 2 days from now. Can I put some jumper wires in somehow, or easily add another pushbutton switch in center of wheel? If anyone has schematics for this area, I would definitely like to get them too. Thanks all.
