Default What scanner do I use

I can't find any clear cut information on what scanner code reader I should use on my car. It seems that my 1995 LeSabre is in a Gray area when it comes to whether or not it is OBD II. Can anybody expound on this?

Look at your Data link connector under the dash.
If it has 12 pins it's OBDI . If it has 16 pins it's OBDII. That was a tough one, good to see you back !

Hey Hanky, Thanks. I know mine is a 16 pin and is there a way to do this with a paper clip.

No , not with OBDII. Must have a code reader or scan tool.

OK. I went to Advance auto and they plugged the reader in and basically the reader accepted the plug-in and got to the point where it says it's "Working" and then after a minute, it says Link Error. So, the next thing I did was to go to AutoZone and I got the same results with them. So, I am baffled.

Maybe it's OBD1.5? I believe they had an OBDII connector, but worked like OBDI.
