01 LeSabre driver side rear window won't open or close

The window is stuck in the down position on the driver side rear. I pulled it up with my hands and as I was driving it slide down. our friend tried to adjust it but now it makes a 'grinding' noise, which is wasn't doing before.
Now its stuck in the down position, if i push the button it just makes the noise. Any ideas.
Thanks for your input.

Buick Window Regulators

The window regulators in the 2000 to 2005 have a cable mechanism that fails. The motors do not appear to fail that much. There are many low cost regulators that come with a motor that can be easily installed.

Check Amazon for the best ones available with some assurance that the seller will stand by their products.
I recently purchased a 2002 LeSabre with the front passenger window held up with a piece of wood wedged between the glass and frame. Due to the window not being up all of the way rain was getting inside of the car.

I purchased a GM replacement regulator with the motor for about $58.00. It took about a half hour to remove the old one and install the new one. Now it works great again! The tension spring came off of the cable and the cable came out of the spool. This is not a very good design but I felt that I should use a good quality regulator since the front windows are opened more often than the rear windows.

I also discovered that both of the rear windows would not work at all. When I opened the panel I discovered that the former owner had disconnected the motor so that it could not operate. Both of the rear windows are all of the way up so with the motors disconnected they cannot come down.

I ordered a set of regulators with the motor for both of the rear windows from Amazon for about $65.00 for the pair. I expect them in in a couple days and will install them this weekend..

There are some very good YouTube videos from 1AAuto.com that shows how to install both the front and rear window regulators. This is not a difficult job to do. The top two screws hold the clamp for the glass. They are loosened to drop the regulator out.

I know that this is an old post but anyone who can do this work may find a good buy on a car that needs the regulators.
