Hey, guys...new to the forum. I have an '04 LeSabre Limited (White Gold Flash/Celebration Edition). Got a question on the backlighting on the steering wheel controls and other areas within the driver and passenger areas such as the control buttons on the doors: Some of the lights have gone out, which is fine in the daytime but not so good at night...are there certain fuses I need to check/replace or is this something only the dealership can fix? They quoted me somethingaround $250-$270, if I'm remembering correctly. If this is something I can fix myself, I'd sure like to hear some ideas. Thanks! I also have an ''04 LeSabre where the backlights havegone out on the steering wheel audio controls. I read that you can remove the switch by gently prying them out of the steering wheel. It works but there is almost no slack in the cable connecton. I was able to get the switch out without too much trouble. There is a release tab on the electrical connector that you can reach with a screwdriver. The lamps are incandescent and I was not sure of the voltage, 12V ? They are soldered to a very basicprinted circuit board assembly. I decided to give up at this point and it took me 45 min to get the volume switch back in. Re-ataching the electrical connector was a major pain. I ended up "half-way" connecting it, then pushing the switch assembly back into the steering wheel hoping the connector would "seat" itself. It seemed to work ok because the switch functions properly and I have driven for a month over 1000 miles. I hope this is helpful. I might try again if I can buya newswitch assembly but replacing the lamps seems far to involved for the value of my time. |
