Location of O2 sensor
 

Hi. I have an 05 Lacrosse V6 with a bad O2 sensor in bank 1 sensor 1. Can anyone tell me which one that is, as in where it is located?

Bank 1 is the bank on the engine where #1 piston cyl is located. Oxygen sensor 1 is the sensor in the exhaust pipe coming off of bank 1.

Always like to ask how it was determined the sensor itself was defective or malfunctioning. Many times we blame the sensor when it is working correctly.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have two trouble codes, P0053 and P0134, that both point to the O2 sensor at bank one, sensor 1. In other cars I've worked on the pattern of bank and sensor has been the same. I'm assuming that is universal.

Yes, to the best of my little knowledge that is correct.
If you replace the O2 sensor and the code still comes up , might be a good idea to check the wiring.
Appears there is a problem with the O2 heater and the sensor not responding.

I usually check the wiring first. I had a code similar to this on my wife's VW that turned out to be the wire got snagged on something she hit and snapped. I doubt that's the case now, but since then, better safe than sorry.
