A/C and heater fan.
 

The fan blower motor on my 2005 Lacrosse quit last week. I had been hearing noise from it for a week or so. Shortly before it stopped, I could smell an electrical burning smell. Assuming the resistor blew I replaced it this morning. It still doesn't work. I'm guessing there is a fuse or relay that also went. I cannot find one listed in either fuse box. What am I missing?. Thanks.

Doesn't sound like a fuse, more like the motor itself burned up or sometimes the wiring insulation melts- hopefully fuse would go before that happens. Usually at terminal or motor connections that I've ever found.

I found the HVAC fuse in the cabin fuse box. It has not blown. I'm sure there is another fuse or relay somewhere because the HVAC fuse is only 10 amp.

If you isolated the motor by unplugging the connections and ran 12v to the motor leads , it could help prove either motor or otherwise.

All I can say is, WOW. I pulled the fan and found it clogged with a mouse nest. What caused everything to blow was part of a hickory nut that jammed the fan. The motor, resistor burned out and the 30 amp fuse blew. I pulled a whole bunch of nest out of the duct as well. The odd thing is this car doesn't sit much.

You are lucky because they just built a nest.
If they get into wiring , which they seem to like, it can drive you up a wall trying to find where they had a meal. I'm not even sure if they use it for nesting or food, but they cause some really serious problems. Wherever you are parking the vehicle is where they are getting in.
Someone I knew had to sell the car because the mice gave birth in the vehicle and the litter died in there and by the time the decomposing bodies were found nothing seemed to work to get rid of the odor.
I had a situation where mice built a nest in the relay panel of a piece of construction equip.. Their urine is very corrosive and sticky and you would not believe the electrical problems it caused. We found it when trying to determine why the thing would not start.
Be on the lookout as the weather gets cooler because that is when they look for a warm place to stay and the engine compartment is perfect after the engine is shut down.
