< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>ok i have a 1990 sunbird with a 1987 3.8 from a century. a 4t65e tranny i'm getting like 400 stall with the stock converter. and a holset hx35w turbo 24x12x3 intercooler and 3 inch exaust. It has megasquirt and 12 injectors 6x31# 6x36#. and a threw in some small block 100# valve springs. and i cleaned up the burrs and what not in the ports.

The engine is pretty near the same as a grand national engien except for the oil pump is driven by the crank and comes with a factory rollercam.

to date i have ran 12.71 @ 117 mph on street tires with 19 lbs of boost. but there are guys with the newer 3400's with 10 lbs boost running better than me so whats the problem here?

i retarded the cam 10 degrees and that brought me from low 13's @ 113 mph to the 12.71 @ 117 mph. the engien is realy flat i ran these times shifting at 4800 rpm.

It should be faster than that ? i was thinking maybe change the cam. i could use a grand national cam but would have to chop the front oil pump drive off.

here are some videos on your tube of it in action ...

thats really cool. wht are you using for a pcm? and ur intercooler is air to water right?

about the 3.4 on 10 psi, the 3.4, either the lq1 dohc, or the later ohv, are both producing more power in stock form than the engine you started with. so maybe thats why they run better numbers? also what about grip? what are you running for tires?

have you considered using a ser 1 L27or L67? the L67 would have stronger internals.

my engine stock is 180 hp and 230 ft lbs tq.

newer style l76 are they stronger ... they have cross bolted mains ... but tiny ass shorter powdermetal rods ...grand national boys are making 800 hp + on stock rods with arp bolts.

what i'm wondering is ... why isn't my motor proforming like a grand national ...

transverse transmission my friend. the GN's probably have a better GR, and rwd is also a great advantage. L67 i believe are at 240 stock.

what kinda hp are you putting to the wheels? and are you running slicks?

have you thought about meth injection?

and what about the pcm? what are your limitations with programming, or re-flashing?

My thoughts are so short on this.I just like my 2.0 being that is what I know.Plus one advantage(I think I have) is the manual 4spd which is great on mpg.It will wind up to 60 with ease and seeing my shift light(yeah tells me when to do this to save gas) ha ha.Idk just like the 2.0 easy to work on (I think) more space than a v6 and done.
