I am changing the back valve cover gasket on my sisters 96 buick reagal how do i do it?

Well, you take off anything that's in the way, and then unbolt the valve cover. If you have a specific problem, post again.

Anyways, depending on your engine, it's generaly not hard, just time consuming, you may have to remove a few parts, Throttle linkage/alternator. Ofcourse you want tl let the car cool down for an hour before you do it (prolly how long it'll take to get the parts in your way out of your way. unbolt the valve cover like you would a tire, in the star topography, this will ensure your valve cover is taking equil pressure. once off inspect both connecting surfaces on the valve and the block. if there are any serious chips cracks scratches or gouges. you're pretty much hooped unless you know how to fix it. assuming both surfaces are ideal. replace the old gasket with a new one, Bolt it back on (using the star topography like a tire) with a tork wrench, set to whatever ft pounds the manual says. you can guess but not tight enuff and your car is hooped, to tight and you crack your valve covers or strip the thread out of your block, or the head off the bolt. I can't remember how many ft pounds off hand, it's diffrent for every engine, but so close you could prolly get away with the universal average. if you need that number, let me know. I can find it.
