replace idiot lights
I am replaceing my water temp and oil pressure lights with gauges. I don't know where to connect them under the hood. Help please!
|
I think that's a good move. It would help if you could provide the engine type the year of the car etc.
|
I'm sorry. It's a 1993 Buick Park Avenue. 3800 series engine

I want to be sure of the simplest places for you to install the gauge sensors.
Are they electric or mechanical? |
They are mechanical. The battery gauge is no trouble, I know how to do it. I have been told that if I disconnect the lights, it will mess up the computer.
|
What lights?
|
The best thing I can suggest to hook up the temp and oil press gauges is to use a "tee" and get the temp from the same place that the coolant temp sensor uses. The oil pressure is the same thing use a tee and connect the oil press gauge to the same location that the present oil pressure sending unit uses. Temps can be different in different parts of the engine and the same goes for oil pressure.

Thanks Hanky. I'm going to auto-zone to shop for tee's. Thank you for your reply!
