Need a new transmission in my 01 buick park turbo
 

Hello I'm gonna try and replace the transmission on my 2001 buick park turbo...if anyone has done this which I'm sure your out there ...?? Well please let me know what I'm up against and I greatly appreciate your expertise

Hmm, last time was on my ‘84 Daytona Turbo Z. Wasn’t equipped to change housing so removed everything from housing end and installed new bearings and junkyard internals. Changed gear ratio, liked better. Factory manuals were mandatory as far as adjusting linkage and shift throws (5 speed tranny). Doesn’t have to be exact replacement, just the same as if unbolting old and install new if same model type. Also need to check internals anyways; had broken shift parts in new (used) tranny, used my existing.

Also spring loaded the forward speeds shift linkage and would almost upshift on its own, just a fun thing. Wasn’t like a RWD, was FWD; motor and tranny practically as one and had these solid cables I guess you’d call them that ran into console shifter.

Think I was here this AM and forgot to post. Oh, car ran perfect; left for Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA an hour after last adjustment.

Have you located a replacement trans yet?

Not sure if turbo vehicle has a beefed up trans, might be worth looking into.
If you are planning on keeping the vehicle for a while,might consider a remanufactured trans. They come with a better warranty , all parts are new and the latest modifications are installed in it. Cost is a little more, but who likes R & R transmissions for free?
