I have a Park Avenue Ultra -94 that I absolutely adore.

Since two years now, it has happened a few rare times that it all of a sudden refuse to go into fourth gear. Usually, it is very likely to lock-up the OD at 50 mph and 1300 rpms or so, and stay there for the rest of the day.

Since last week though, it doesn't use the fourth gear at all. At first it was a bit random if I turned the machine off and turned it on again, but now it is all the time. It runs well for hours in third though, with a slight decrease in mileage - but I want to fix it of course.

Does anyone here have a clue as to what the problem might be?

Heh, never mind.

I came to the conclusion that it is the gearstick that is at fault, not the gearbox. When I think I put it in "D", it can actually be "3" instead due to some play from wear.

Good thing it wasn't anything expensive...
