Default 2005 Lacrosse parking brake cable

Hi there -

I need to replace my leaking rear drivers side caliper. It is clearly leaking from the spring mechanism.

I've replaced calipers in the past, but this is the first one I've had to tackle with a cable attached.

The cable end looks like it's really wedged into place, so I was hoping someone out there could give me some tips or tricks on removing the cable from the caliper.

Any help would be appreciated.

Appreciate the reply Rich.
I’ll let this forum know how the cable removal goes.

Remove the brake line “banjo” bolt attached to the caliper.
Hang the end of the brake line up into the coil.
Remove the two caliper mounting bolts.
Rotate the caliper until the cable end is in sight.
Pry the lip (as much as you can) that’s hanging over the cable end cap with the largest flat screwdriver you have.
Use a smaller flat screwdriver and small vise grip to wiggle worm the end cap from its seated position. Tip: Rotate the caliper back and forth as you pull on the end cap. Doing this seemed to help.
Use the same flat screwdriver to push in the cable tabs through each of the mounting bracket’s square openings. After pushing in the tabs, slowly pry/rock the base of the cable from its seated position. Wala!
