2001 buick la sabre driver side controls

Problem with drivers side controls. The controls that open and close windows, open truck, controls all the other windows etc. quit working. I thought maybe fuse, but all of the windows work. It seems like something might have come disconnected. Any ideas

none of the switches work on the front drivers side door, all the individual switches on other doors work. had one person tell me that 90% of the time when this happens it is the drivers side control module has gone bad, other people say it is the muti-funtional switch has gone bad. are they talking about the same thing just calling it by a different name or there really two different items? thanks for any help

They are 2 different parts.
Before purchasing anything it is always a good move to verify power and ground are available at the door.
Some special tools make the job a lot easier and can prevent unnecessary damage to door panels etc..
Unless you have the tools and some experience, this job is best left to a shop with the experience to do the job.
Most times if the switch assy is defective ,some other windows will not work either. I would suspect the module assy.
Programming the replacement module may be required for it to operate completely.

Some places that do glass replacement work may be able to handle this job.

OK, now we have some idea of where we are,
You will need a slotted blade type tool to insert behind the door panel retainers to pull the retainers out of the holes. You could get way with something like a putty knife or wide flat thin blade scraper. If you are not careful you can damage the cardboard of the panel and the retainer will stay stuck in the door/

You might want to consider disconnecting the negative battery cable from the battery to prevent unwanted complications.

Only you know what you can handle and it might not be a bad idea to get an estimate from a shop or maybe a shop that does glass work.
