06 Lucerne cxs rear electronic struts/shocks
Need to replace as they are 12 years old and are leaking. Told that they can only be purchased through GM Canada at $1250 a piece.
Can these parts be purchased aftermarket in the US. and what do they cost in USD ? What is the best brand to buy.? |
Darn? For an over decade old car I'd replace with the closest non-adjusting shock to accomodate driving habits. Or the manual setting adjustable shock set. Ford in 2013 didn't have that option and on my other car can adjust with manual settings (have these days of coarse). The only time setting is changed is for tracking or drag strip. Can set rear struts softer for shifting weight to rear tires as fulcrum for traction. Other than that why would anybody even bother- Leave magnaride shock replacement for next owner? |
Some folks form quite an attachment to a vehicle.
Depending on the strength of your "attachment" will most likely determine which path to choose. If just a means of getting from here to there , I believe the lowest cost replacement is a good move, but if on the other hand if this is your baby, you might search around for decent replacement parts. What do you think? |

You would have to shop around on the net because I don't if all manufacturers make those specialized parts.
There is , Moog, Monroe, AC Delco (origional eq) and a few others. |
Thanks hanky ill do some research and let you know how the project turns out. Regards R |
