My supercharger is starting to rattle, and there are no shops around where I live that I expect to offer service (I live in Sweden and my car is next to unique here), so I am looking apprehensively at eBay. I find little for the Series I engine (L27?) though.
Can an Eaton M90 from a Series II 3800 (L67) be put on my engine? Or do you know of any company that might ship a fitting SC nosecone to Sweden? ThanksEdited by: Michail |
When my '92 went out (this was about 9 years ago) I got rebuild parts from a Diesel truck service center. Eaton provides similar units for many of the Diesel trucks here. I don't know if they are in your area, but I think that would be the first place to look. At that time the only other source was a complete new supercharger from Buick at a cost of about $2500. The parts cost meunder $200. As you probably know, it is usually only necessary to rebuild the nose end.Edited by: MrBSS |
I found some other helpful references to rebuilders.

One thing I don't understand: what is the supercharger make and model in my PAU '94?
Can I just slap any Eaton M90 on there as long as the nosecone and pulley has the right dimensions? Or are there other things to worry about, like lubrication and bolt patterns and manifold shape and such? |
I think all the Buick Superchargers have self contained oiling systems. The bolt patterns are probably standard, but I don't know for sure. I would also worry if the bypass control would mate. |
I eventually learned that the SC is an Eaton M62 and if I can only find the bearings and stuff I can get it fixed locally.
Thanks for your advice! |
Good luck! Did you try A Diesel shop, or direct to Eaton? |

I spent hours googling around before learning that the supercharger was an Eaton M62 until 1996 when it became an M90 or some such.
I bought a rebuild kit from http://www.rollingperformance.com/ which seems like just what the doctor ordered. In case anyone is curious, the snout bearings are: One ø40/ø17 mm, 12 mm wide. One ø47/ø20 mm, 14 mm wide. It was annoying that this information was not to be found on the net. |
i would strongly suggest that you go to www.bonnevilleclub.com and do a few searches on the nosedrive rebuild. and ask question BEFORE you attempt your rebuild. and yes you have the eato m62. they are not interchangeable with the m90. if you look for a second sc it MUST be series one from 94 or 95. the 92-93 m62 is a lil different. |
