I had a fluid leak on the 'check valve'? on the brake line toward the rear driver tire. Is this a check valve? and what does it do? Can I remove it and leave it out? Thanks

Check valve I have never seen, but bleed valve is behind the tire. Unless teh maker "moved" the bleed valve up the line from the tire.

I believe your '93 has rear drum brakes. I think that what you are referring to as a check valve is actually a pressure reducing or balancing valve. This keeps the higher pressure which the front discs require, from locking up the rear drums. Drum brakes are self actuating and do not require as much pressure. Perhaps the ABS system would keep them from locking, but I think that valve is still an advantage. In any event, I would be very reluctant to remove anything that the manufacturer has put in the brake system. They just don't spend money for parts that are unnecessary! |
