Need Help
I have a 1989 Buick Century Limited with a 3.3 engine.
Early morning - drove across town about 12 miles - stopped at red light - motor died. Started after grinding over a few times but was stumbleing and looping - turned the corner onto a side street to get out of traffic and the motor died. Would not re-fire. Ran Battery down, removed batter and carried it to a service station to have it re-charged. Put back in and still would not start. Towed the buick home. No trouble codes on the check engine dash light as we had removed the battery. Are the codes still in the E.C.M. and can they be read with an OBD-1 scanner? Also, we unhooked the air filter and sprayed ether starter fluid into the intake and the motor started and purred like a kitten while we were squirting the fluid in it. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated as this car only has 62,000 miles on it. Almost like brand new, it just won't run. |
It sounds like a problem in the fuel system. Does the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on? When was the last time the fuel filter changed? Injectors?

Fuel filter changed one month ago.
As per instructions on telephone from Buick garage in Vegas shorted across oil pressure switch, A ok. Used a fuel pressure gauge on the shradder valve, pressure constant 41 psi. |
You might also check the fuses. There should be one for the fuel pump , injectors and the PCM. Check them all !!
