The AC/heat fan speed works on lowest setting, then it stops working when placed in the next highest position (low to middle), and works again in the higher postions 3,4,5 highest. I checked all the fuses and they are good. Any techs no about this? 2005 Buick Century Edited by: RFisher |
could be the blower motor resistor, or the switch itself. but usually the resistor will fail first.

Do you know where and how to locate this resistor? I am hoping it is not under that panel on passenger side. My knees are bad from a recent fall, so it hurts to get down there.
|
i have not replaced one in that year century. but on most cars they are on the passenger side firewall. usually very close to the blower motor.
|
hopefully it is something that simple. I go to wait awhile for my knees to heal before I can craw under that passenger side though. Thanks for the help.

usually you can get to them from the top. just open the hood. (emphasis on usually) p.s.please read this link https://www.buickforum.com/forum_pos...=1479&PN=1 p.s.s. not too expensive http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...artType=861&am p;am p;PTSet=AEdited by: samueljackson |
Thanks for the link to parts, the picture will help me find this thing. Looking under hood, I do not see anything mounted on firewall. Sure wish I had a picture of this vent motor location / access. 2005 Buick Century |
try the link in this thread http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...php?t=95990&am p;highlight=library |
Thanks, that is an excellant resource. I actually found some schematics for the AC system. Looks like either a bad switch, or open resistor problem from the drawing anyway. I pulled the knob off of the Fan speed selector switch, and notice some resistors in there on a small ciruit board. Wondering if those are the ones? 05 Buick Century |
if you have a meter, and you see resistors, you could test the resistors for continuity.
