E10 petrol (10% ethanol) in a 1980 Century
Can a Buick Century Estate from 1980, in original condition, run on petrol E10, so with up to 10% of ethanol? I mean without the risk of causing damage in the longer term to the engine or fuel system.

Just about all manufacturers OK'd 10 % ethanol.
If the inlet needle and seat were not updated to use unleaded petrol, the original needle had a rubber point that would swell with unleaded fuel and cause problems. A new needle point had Viton rubber that was more resistant to unleaded fuel and worked just fine. |
Thanks for your reaction. My car runs on unleaded fuel only, so the needle and seat should be fine. But this is about the ethanol. I have also read in other topics that only cars from somewhere in the later 80's or 90's should be able to run on a certain percentage of ethanol. What is correct? I certainly hope you are right that my car can run on 10% of ethanol. Can you confirm this?
