dropping tank
Hi its been a while since I had to post. Right now I'm trying to drop my fuel tank on a 93 centry because the shop where I sometimes have do work on it said fuel pump went bad. That was reason motor died on I95 on way home from work one day.
I have car up on stands but am having difficulty disconnecting flex fuel fill and vent lines from tank to filler tube. It would sure make my job easier if I knew that rubber hose is still available from dealer. Local parts stores dont sell it. If they do, Ill cut old one off. Car is 93 Centry with 3.3L anyone know if avail and how much? |

Lousy job, but not bad, hope you picked up the "O" ring that goes under the tank unit. They are somewhat difficult to reinstall after they swell. Let us know how you make out. Now was a good time to change the fuel filter too. |

its so nice to visit here a nice thread. Am so impressed with your such a good hard work, its definitely a good and diferent idea for others, you guys are doing good work good luck, keep it up..:)

Tank pump fixed...now breaks issue
YES , new O ring installed, fuel filter, fuel line to filter. Pretty neat how the quick disconnect works on the ends of the fuel lines. Im still from the school of small hose clamps.
After all was reassembeld, and 5 gallons of gas put back into the tank, I prayed for no drips. Yahoo, NONE. After a minite or so the engine was running nice and smooth. Decided to take for ride around the block, not much further since inspection ran out since sittin inm y driveway since Febuary. The brakes made such a racket as was expected sitting so long. Within the block drive, most of the break noise went away about 80%. BUT there is this "thump" "thump" when breaking. Pulled front wheels. Rotors and pads seem ok. Today I puled driver side rear break drum. Loaded with rust. Decided to replace BOTH drums and some new shoes. Had just enough daylight to 1 side. New Drum very tight getting on. Made sure shoes were close to eachother as possible. Break drags causing rear of car to rise when backing and squat when going foward. The self adjuster is as short as I can make it. Wheel cylinder was compressed or so I thought. Might try to get drum back off tomarrow if I get home early enough. |

Don't get too involved in the brake drag problem, just back off on the parking brake cable adjustment. That should remove the drag problem because it keeps the shoes from coming close together. |
HANKY.....I also thought of that today too. Is there under the car to loose the parking cable adjustment?

Should be, usually on the driver's side running under the floor.

TODAY....I found the part on the axle. I turn the nut so much the wire I could wiggle it. It is loose. The wheel still wont move. I removed the drum. I tried to install the old drum but NO it didnt fit also. I call the store where i BOUGHT it, Im stopping there tomarrow with parts to see whats wrong......

Did you have this problem with both sides or only one?
It stinks when they give you the wrong parts, but it happens. Did you have a chance to compare the old to the new parts? |
