I have a 2001 Buick Century 3.8l V-6, 152,000 miles ( highway ):

At times engine reves to a high RPM and will not drop when the brake

is applied. I have to pull the vehicle over, put it in park and turn off the

engine, let it cool down, re-start it and it runsfine. Today it was

holding the RPM's until the engine cooled down.

The Catalytic convertor was replaced two months back, probably the

wrong size. I have been told alot of things to to see if they are the

problem.I thought that with the information listed above someone

mighthave had the same problem.

Sounds like the throttle linkage area and mechanics... check it out with the engine off and someone throttling it slowly ..Perhaps it gets stuck.

Good Luck
