Hey Mike. I have a Roadmaster wagon in white with the wood trim option. I got it used. Whats the best way to get the wood vinyl off? I was thinking a heat gun and peeling it off.

Secondly, since some of the steel bumper panels are missing on the side, I was thinking just to remove them all, getting the little mounting 'nail heads' (thats what they look like to me) that its mounted on filed down and respray the entire car white.

Finally, the little rubber strips that are on the roof, since Im never gonna carry anything on the roof, I was thinking of taking them off, filling in the screw holes and respraying that area too.

Is this all viable?

While I''m not a body man I can say that most of what you are asking is basically what some folks do when they do a mod to their car. Stripping the wood trim yes heat and a scraper will work,theres several different products out that will help the process along,
The bumper panels and roof sounds like a straight forward sand and fill. As far as respraying, just use a good primer, remember the paint is only as good as the base it has to work with.
